Who is the EBSA?
The Employee Benefits Security Administration is a division of the U.S. Dept of Labor that performs audits on company’s qualified retirement plans. When the EBSA audits a business, they investigate to see that the company’s retirement plans are being administered properly according to the law.
Who should come?
Anyone that wants to know the U.S. Dept. of Labor requirements, and avoid the fines and penalties from improper administration.
Who could be audited?
*Any business that has a "Qualified Retirement Plan", i.e. 401k, or files a "Tax Plan 5500"
*Any size business, big or small. Information is applicable to businesses of all sizes.
Who should hear this presentation?"
*All small, medium or large business owners - Owners are ultimately responsible for the administration of their plan and any fines or penalties. Even if a company has an accountant, the owner is responsible, unless that person has taken on fiduciary responsibilities.
*Any person assigned as the fiduciary agent of a plan for a company, also known as a "plan sponsor, plan administrator, or designated plan administrator".
*Any business with a Qualified Retirement Plan, such as a 401K.
*Any business thinking of starting a Retirement Plan for their employees.
