Did you know that protecting your identity is largely in your own hands? So here's the first rule: If you don't need it, destroy it - responsibly. The BBB is here to help.
Come participant in the BBB's Protect Your Identity Week free document shredding event! Pull out those old bills, credit card records and other personal paperwork you no longer need and let us destroy them for you at no cost. You don't even have to get out of your car!
This year we will also be collecting old, unwanted cell phones for recycling. Bring your old cell phones for donation to 911cellphonebank.org. Working phones will be used in the 911 emergency cell phone program, while non-working models will be responsibly recycled.

What: Free on-the-spot document shredding plus tips and resources for protecting your identity
When: Saturday, October 22, 2011, from 9:00 am - noon
Where: University of Memphis parking lot on Poplar Avenue, just east of Highland St.
How: Bring up to 10 boxes or bags of documents to be shredded and take home the tips and resources you need to help protect yourself. Documents to be shredded should be removed from binders, but staples and paper clips are okay to be shredded.
