The BBB is issuing a consumer alert about Merle Grimes & Son. Complaints against the company allege that consumers paid for repair work on their heating or air conditioning systems but those repairs were not successfully completed.

National Consumer Protection Week, which this year begins on Sunday, is an annual collaboration between the government and nonprofit organizations to educate consumers about how to make informed buying decisions.
Participating government agencies include the Federal Trade Commission, the Internal Revenue Service, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the various bank regulators. In addition to the Better Business Bureau, nonrofit partners include AARP, the Consumer Federation of America and the National Urban League. Memphis TN, February 7, 2012 – The BBB is issuing a consumer alert about Mo Money Taxes, a tax preparation company headquartered in Memphis. Mo Money Taxes has had an F rating with the BBB in Memphis for several years for failure to respond to consumer complaints.
The BBB of the Mid-South has received 24 complaints on Mo Money Taxes in the past three years; 6 of those remain unanswered. Another 8 complaints that were recently filed are pending.

But before you make that call, consider this: According to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, some locksmiths advertising in your local telephone book may not be local at all. They may not have professional training. What’s more, some of them may use intimidating tactics and overcharge you.

The FCRA promotes the accuracy and privacy of information in the files of the nation’s consumer reporting companies. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, enforces the FCRA with respect to consumer reporting companies.
