March 24, 2008, Memphis, TN - The BBB is issuing its third consumer alert on Turfco, a lawn care and pest control company. The BBB has already received 21 complaints from Turfco customers in 2008 and 42 complaints in the past six months. Turfco is located at 1717 Bartlett Rd. in Memphis.
Complaints include allegations of poor service, failure to honor requests to cancel service, and failure to respond to phone calls from customers. Turfco did not respond to any of these complaints until the BBB issued an earlier consumer alert. The company has now responded to some complaints, but not all of them, despite committing to do so. In many of the responses, Turfco threatened to initiate collection action against the customers rather than address their complaints.
The BBB encourages consumers to check out a company’s record with the BBB before doing business with it. The BBB can provide a roster of BBB Accredited Businesses that have committed to treating their customers fairly.
