The BBB is issuing another consumer alert regarding Turfco and related companies. Turfco has one of the worst records in the BBB’s files for generating and failing to respond to complaints. The companies are Turfco, a pest control company; Fort Knox Security, security systems consultants; and Weaver Investments, a homebuilder. According to information on file with the Tennessee Secretary of State, the registered agent for all three companies is Henry H. (or H.H.) Weaver, III, and the address for all three companies is 1717 Bartlett Rd., Memphis, TN 38134.
In the past 36 months, the BBB received 42 complaints on Turfco, with 35 unanswered. Since November 8, 2007, the BBB has received 9 new complaints on Turfco that are still pending. Complainants allege that the company continued to bill them after they cancelled their service, promised services that were not delivered, and did not respond to calls and complaints.
The BBB has received 10 complaints on Fort Knox Security, none of which have been answered. Two additional complaints have been received since November 9, 2007 and are still pending. Complainants allege that the company continued to bill them after they cancelled their service, debited consumer bank accounts without permission, and did not respond to calls and complaints. The Tennessee Alarm Contractor’s Board advised the BBB on 11/15/07 that Fort Knox Security is not licensed to do business as an alarm contractor.
The BBB has received 5 complaints on Weaver Investments, with 3 unanswered. Complainants allege that promised repairs were not completed.
The BBB sent a certified letter to each company advising that it would issue a consumer alert if the company did not respond to the complaints in a good faith manner. None of the companies responded to that letter.
